CLASS B DRIVING LICENSE WITH KEY 197
CAR DRIVING LICENSE
With the new so-called automatic control, from April 1st, 2021, the possibility will be created to take the practical driving test of class B and BF 17 with an automatic vehicle without having to enter the code number 78 in the driver's license, which is otherwise usual for automatic vehicles.
For applicants in driving license classes B and BF17, this means that, despite the practical driving test on an automatic vehicle, the driving license is granted without restriction if part of the practical training has previously been completed on a switching vehicle and a corresponding proof of switching has been obtained.
For holders of a currently limited class B driving license with code number 78 (SZ78), this means that the entry of code number 197 can be requested with simultaneous deletion of SZ78 if the above-mentioned switching certificate has been acquired.
REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisite for the issue of the driving license with the code number 197 is proof of at least 10 hours a 45 minutes of practical driver training on a motor vehicle with manual transmission, so-called shift proof (§ 17 a para. 2 sentence 3 FeV) in accordance with Appendix 7 of the driver training regulation.
Proof of switching must be presented to the Citizens' Registration Office when applying (exchange). First-time applicants also have the option of submitting the switching certificates to the driving school. This forwards this to the technical test centers.
APPLICATION
Applicants in class B or BF17 can enter the code number 197 under
- Submission of proof of identity
- Submission of evidence of first aid training
- the specification of the driving school and the desired test center
- Submission of a current biometric photo
- Submission of proof of successful participation in the practical training
- for a fee of € 49.00
Holders of class B SZ78 apply for an exchange of their driving license for the entry of the code number B197 in the citizens' office (fee: 25.30 €).
